Bhubaneswar/Varanasi: The Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor, which has revamped and renovated the temple premises and its link to the Ganges, is a testament to a resurgent nation bridging its ancient civilisation and modernity, PM Modi said after he inaugurated the Rs.339- crore project in Varanasi. He also congratulated the UP government, and described Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as a “karmayogi” for completing the project. He also hailed the contribution of Punjab to the temple’s early development while referring to Guru Nanak’s visit and Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s donation of gold.
The corridor is going to increase near the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and connect with two ghats of the River Ganga. This will transform the area of the temple and pilgrims will no longer need to walk through cramped lanes, often causing crowds, to reach the temple. The project is built on an area of 5000 hectares and seeks to decongest the area for a better experience for pilgrims. The earlier premises were limited to just around 3,000 square feet. There are 23 buildings built around the temple. This will include several facilities for pilgrims, including a tourist facilitation centre, vedic kendra, mumukshu bhavan, bhogshala, city museum, viewing gallery, food court among others.
